Girls Arabian Night Birthday at the Bay
Ok I’m finally blogging about the girls birthday bash. So many have been asking. It has been 3 months past due. Hahaha. Not that I don’t want to write about it but writing about this needs inspiration you see. And today’s the day that I have enough to inspire me to write.
I’m a sucker when it comes to planning. I plan way way ahead of the upcoming event. Well I have to be. You might not know what’s gonna happen if everything’s last minute, right? I’m lucky enough to have my sis and my best friend helping me along the way with the planning. We wanted something posh yet child friendly this time round. We did not want a HUGE one like the Alice in Wonderland birthday bash last year but just an intimate, personalised party where everyone knows everyone else and is not shy to mingle. It was also a kind of a Thank You event for all our friends who have helped us along the way during past events.
Doing it at a hotel was the last thing that I wanted what with the costs and all but my very generous best friend Zahrin who was also my kids ‘god-pa’ assured me that everything was in good hands and that I should not be worried. Everything was taken care of. His exact words were ” Just go there and have fun! You guys deserved it” I or rather we were truly blessed to have him.
We decided on The Fullerton Bay as it was a gorgeous hotel (spent an amazing annivasary here), the view was spectacular, staff were friendly and they were able to cater to whatever we needed where food was concerned example regarding the need to be halal friendly. The party itself was held at The Lantern, a rooftop verandah. An open space with a magnificient view by night.
One thing that I really like about booking this space is that we have the priveledge to do whatever we wanted. In terms of decoration that is. And I must say my sister who is the logistics person-in-charge did a great job with the place. Simple but yet it has that arabian feel to it.
Now what is the utmost important thing of a party? For me personally it has got to be the food. If the food is nice then your guests would definately enjoy the party more, right?
Guests were told of the theme way ahead thus the need to dress up as an arabian prince, princess, genie, oil sheikh you get the picture. And all our guests were so supportive of the theme! I am in awe that they came in their arabian splendour.

There was a genie too that night to the delight of the kids. He was as you guessed the game master of the night. He pranced, danced and made the kids warm up to him. All the games were hilarious!

But way before the games officially start, a prayer from Daddy the host of the party.
Game time!!

I was most impressed with how we gave the birthday cake or rather the birthday cupcakes a personalised touch. It was all last minute and I was glad that it came out superbly. Thank you to Ayu from SimplyCupcakes for the delicious cupcakes and to my favourite Aunty Lin the gold dust inspired brownies.

What is a birthday without a LUCKY DRAW,right? The funnest part of the night for everybody anticipating for a prize hehe.

The best dressed kids for the night. Ili’s best friend Sara and my nephew Ilhan.

Overall the birthday was a huge success. Up till today I could not forget the fun that all of us had. I am so thankful and greatful to have such a loving family who have stood by me all this time, helping out despite their busy schedules. I could never have done and planned everything without them. I Love you guys so very much!

Seeing RED
I have a fetish for all things red these days. Not so much for clothes but bags. Whatever I search through the net, I’ll always end up looking at red bags. So what does red actually signify?
Red
Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.
Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red. In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage. It is a color found in many national flags.
Red brings text and images to the foreground. Use it as an accent color to stimulate people to make quick decisions; it is a perfect color for ‘Buy Now’ or ‘Click Here’ buttons on Internet banners and websites. In advertising, red is often used to evoke erotic feelings (red lips, red nails, red-light districts, ‘Lady in Red’, etc). Red is widely used to indicate danger (high voltage signs, traffic lights). This color is also commonly associated with energy, so you can use it when promoting energy drinks, games, cars, items related to sports and high physical activity.
Light red represents joy, sexuality, passion, sensitivity, and love.
Pink signifies romance, love, and friendship. It denotes feminine qualities and passiveness.
Dark red is associated with vigor, willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing, malice, and wrath.
Brown suggests stability and denotes masculine qualities.
Reddish-brown is associated with harvest and fall.
And how ironic that I don’t own a single red bag? Well if you could count my red CHANEL wallet but that does not categorise as a bag at all. Whenever I say that I will get a red bag I’ll always end up with none or rather other colours. Then I’ll start regretting and all. I’m very determined to get a red bag this time and hope it’s in a form of a ‘B’
In short I love RED. Makes me feel more confident as a woman. Here are some of my favourite RED ‘IT’ bags.

Carousel FoodPorn
For those who already know I LOVE taking food pictures. I don’t know why. I guess its because of their colour and texture? Oh and how good it turns out afterwards. Heh. I really feel that a blog entry should have loads of pictures don’t you think?
Last Friday the sis and her husband treated us all to a dinner at Carousel to celebrate her mum-in-law’s birthday. It has been a while since I last ate there and I was so looking forward. The menu was basically the same I guess every dinner. The menu will change only during high tea and lunch. Given a choice I’ll definately pick the menu for dinner.

And here are the people who make this all possible..

Thank you Meen and Phai for the lovely dinner..
Superheroes
It was like being in Movieworld Goldcoast or The Universal Studios. It’s as though you’re being transported to another dimension attending a superhero convention where superheroes and villains alike congregate. Even onlookers were curious to see so many colourful beings in shiny costumes. It was actually proud parents Norfasarie and Baihakki’s prince and princess’s birthday celebration and the birthday theme was a dead giveaway.. SUPERHEROES.
It was really fun to see so many adults and kids dressing up. Since we do not celebrate Halloween, this was the perfect opportunity to play dress up. Norfa was kind enough to let us know the theme way way ahead of the birthday thus there was ample time for us to prep ourselves on what to wear. Where else to get these uncommon super costumes? Why Ebay of course! Everything and anything is sold there.

Presenting Ili Nashra as daughter of THOR
Introducing Iva Nishrin as the daughter of SIF,THOR’S best friend (iva’s wearing my boots could you tell?)

And introducing Ivi Nishra as daughter of CAPTAIN AMERICA
Here are the superhero sisters!
Ok so lets talk about the birthday now. It was held at NSRCC or Safra Resort some of you might call it. A very modernised chalet bungalow which I like very very much because of the vast space and modern amenities. So as per theme, every nook and corner was decorated with reds, yellows, silvers, blues and superhero deco. Even the candy buffet was not spared. That for me is the best corner ever.
There were many games which both adults and kids participated and prizes were abundant! Then there was of course the neverending photo session. Hey it’s not always that you get to dress up you know. Enjoy the pictures!

A very HUGE THANK YOU to Norfa and Bai for inviting us..we truly had fun!!
March Holidays Revisited
A backdated entry.
We had a staycation during the march holidays at Rasa Sentosa Shangrila Resort having heard so much reviews about it from friends and relatives. The resort truely lived up to its name having been refurbished for the past year. Everything was fresh and new. We booked the family room and it truly didn’t disappoint. The room was big enough to accomodate all 6 of us! But since mum was around we had to book 2 family rooms. adjoining of course. One with a king bed and the other twin bedded. The kids had so much fun going from one room to the next. Did I tell you that family rooms also come with an extra queen size sofa bed? So my mum’s room which was the twin bedded one actually had 3 beds! How cool!
Rasa Sentosa Shangrila view from down below

Meeting with my favourite people in our room. Love the space.
The swimming pool was the highlight of the resort. It even has its own man made beach complete with sand and all. The kids enjoyed the pool especially the kids area. And if you’re lucky like us, you might just run into friendly pea hens.
Shiny happy people at the pool

Lurking peahen with her baby. It actually will chase after you if you have food mind you which is a little bit scary cos I was the victim! Hahaha!

We also spent one of the days at Universal Studios since we were at Sentosa anyway. It had to rain the day we went but lucky for us it was just a slight drizzle which continued throughout the day. And because of the rain, I think people stayed away that was why the place was nearly empty and queues to the rides weren’t long. The transformers ride which was just opened and had a standard waiting time close to an hour was practically empty and we only had to wait for 15 minutes. The ride truly lived up to its name. It was awesome.
This was our second trip here and what we did not do or watch the last time, we made sure we did it this time. I think we covered everything in a span of 5 hours. The rain did not even dampen our spirits and I guess it was more enjoyable this time round maybe because it was quality time spent with family and the best friend.

Fashionista hijab icon
While trying to figure out what to wear for an upcoming dinner tomorrow night, what better way then to talk about hijab fashion right? Hijab fashion has come a long way. Muslimahs are no more clad in just abayas or baju kurungs these days. The younger generation is now becoming more hip and trendy and introducing more styles to the hijab sense of style yet maintain that modest look. Loose shirts, coloured maxi dresses, gypsy maxi skirts, togas just to name a few that hijabis have been seen wearing. Shawls too are becoming more uptrend and colourful.
For me particularly I have been closely following a style icon whom I am deeply in love with. Her styles are immaculate. Whatever that she throws on herself is already a style in itself. I’m talking about the uber famous fashion extrodinare Miss Dina Toki O who is from Cardiff, London. First found out about her through facebook and then I found her website, her online shop which sold great shawls and accessories and is ALWAYS SOLD OUT (as the saying goes faster fingers first). From there I grew fond of her fashion sense and always will refer to her pictures for upcoming occasions. She also uploads youtube videos of her many many styles and even has tutorials on donning the hijab the Dina Toki way. I love her segment of Celebrity Looks for less. She really has a way of re-inventing and re-styling the whole look! How impressive.
This is one of my favourite looks from her and I just might try to pull this off at the dinner..
That IT bag
I’m currently reading BRINGING HOME THE BIRKIN by Michael Tonello. I’m nearly halfway there and I must say the book is hilarious. It’s not as so-called bimbotic or rather himbotic (forgot author is a man) as I thought it would be. Rather entertaining I would say. What is the hype anyway about the BIRKIN? Well it IS THE BAG TO HAVE and the most sought after and not anyone can own or have one. There I’ve said it.
I’ve heard from friends that it is not easy to acquire the bag when you’re at the boutique. Ok don’t talk about Singapore. They don’t even have it off the shelf and I’m sure thay have countless requests from customers asking about the bag. I’m talking about overseas mainly Paris and most of the european countries. The staff will scrutinise you first (I think more so to asians) and they will not entertain you if you ask about a certain colour that you want. They’ll just bring out some weird colour for you. And it’s either you take it or leave it. And my advise would be just TAKE IT. The next time you come they’ll be (hopefully) much nicer with the colour.
There is a place that’s easy to attain the Birkin and that is in Tokyo,Japan. I also heard from friends that Tokyo have the most delicious and lushcious colours in store. But of course it comes with a hefty price tag that’s way way more over the top than their counterparts in Europe.
Loving my favourite icon’s extensive range of Birkins. Some bought and some given by her husband David. It’s been estimated that her Birkins are worth an estimated whopping 1.5 million pounds! Such an investment I would say.
Sigh..What chance then does that leave us mere normal people? Do what I do.. ogle more and hope and pray that the bag would just fall and land on my lap.
